It's the same list of the damned that got us into the Iraq War and apologized for or diminished the criminal excesses of Bush/Cheney over the past eight years. Mike Allen kisses Rove's ring on a regular basis; Kathleen Parker is a Peggy Noonan-wannabe 'soft' neocon; Ruth Marcus and David Gergen continually, and erroneously, promote the current Beltway CW; David Brody works for the Christian Broadcasting Network, and Bill O'Reilly is, well, Bill O'Reilly -- who always holds truth at arm's length. (The others I'm not familiar with.)

If these people think the White House calling out Fox News is a bad idea their track record of being wrong indicates it surely was a stroke of genius on Obama's part.

Aside from that, they're all modern 'multi-media' log-rollers, which means they might want to be invited to appear on Fox someday (or again), if not get a job there. Fox News President Roger Ailes is known for peevishly blacklisting from his network anyone who dares criticize Murdoch's noise machine.

Here was my comment I posted over at Smirking Chimp...

Great article. In fact I'll put it up at ltsaloon.org

But even if they were right: don't care. It's a bit ironic that those who shrugged off how their actions rallied our base during Bush; who bragged about how Bush didn't make decisions according to popularity or polls... (BS, but let's skip that for the moment.) ...now froth at the mouth in joy at supposed gains for FOX.

Again: don't care.

I understand TV lives and dies by ratings, and if commercials are a standard by which to judge such things all the networks are in trouble by the amount of make goods they run. That's when they play the same damn ad over and over, even in the same break, because their customers didn't get the share of the audience promised.

But other than in TV land, as I pointed out in my own column on this topic, bases get rallied. Long term gain only happens when the opposition shrinks and backs off instead of using that rise in interest to build up their own numbers/polls.
